Palestine renounces current agreements with Israeli regime

NEW YORK, Oct. 01 (MNA) – In his speech at 70th UNGA, Palestinian President recounted Israeli infringements of Oslo Agreement.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said, on Wednesday at the United Nations, that his Government renounces the agreements signed with Israel in Oslo, 1993, while this latter country undermines their implementation.

In his speech at the UN 70th General Assembly, Abbas mentioned some of the many actions taken by the Israeli regime in the recent times, inconsistent with the agreements of Oslo, like speeding up the settlement (of Israeli citizens) in the occupied territories of Palestine.

He said that given these facts, described by him as unsustainable, Israel leaves Palestine no choice, "we therefore declare that we cannot continue to be bound by these agreements and that Israel must assume all of its responsibilities", he said.

During his speech Abbas claimed again the right of Palestinians to have a sovereign State, like all peoples in the world, with the borders existing in 1967 and with East Jerusalem as its capital, “we only ask for justice, peace and equity", he said.

He also asked for the right of Palestine to be a full member of the United Nations.

Also today the Palestinian flag was raised at the United Nations HQ for the first time. Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, joint with Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas in the historic ceremony in New York.

Palestine is an observer state at the United Nation; status it got on November 29, 2012 with a voting of 138 in favor, nine against, lead by the US and Israel, and 41 abstentions of a total of 193 members.
